MONTREAL — A second-quarter field goal took Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicker Justin Medlock over the 1,200-point mark on his CFL career in Montreal on Friday night.

The 34-year-old Medlock — a three-time divisional all-star (2011, 2015, 2016) — opened the scoring against the Alouettes with a 13-yard chip shot of a field goal, then added a quartet of converts before closing out the half with a 40-yard field goal.

The milestone kick came at 0:01 of the second quarter, and gave the Bombers a 34-7 lead heading into the half.

Medlock, a UCLA product, broke into the CFL in 2009 with the Toronto Argonauts; after two seasons in double blue, he posted an 89.1 per cent field-goal percentage in 2011 as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, earning a number of NFL opportunities.

The Santa Clara, Cali. native returned to the league with the Ticats in 2014, and kicked in Hamilton through the end of 2015. He then signed with Winnipeg as a free agent in February 2016, and has excelled as a member of the Bombers since.
