REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another big body to the middle of their defensive line, announcing Sunday the addition of veteran defensive tackle Mic’hael Brooks.
A 26-year-old international, Brooks was an early training camp casualty of the BC Lions after three seasons on the West Coast, where he recorded 83 tackles and five sacks.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound run-stuffer could become an immediate contributor on a D-line that already features Willie Jefferson and Charleston Hughes, but is looking to start an international alongside off-season acquisition Zack Evans.
Brooks could make his Riders debut in Week 3 when the club returns home to host the Montreal Alouettes. The Riders are 1-1 following a 40-17 loss to Ottawa, in which they failed to sack Trevor Harris while allowing William Powell to run for 94 yards on 19 carries.
The Riders also announced Sunday they’ve added national defensive back Tristan Doughlin to the practice roster.
