CFL Game Time: Hamilton Edition

On Wednesday morning I woke up in my own bed…for the first time in 5 weeks because this week CFL Game Time was in THE HAMMER!!! Let’s be clear, zero complaints from this now pro-traveller. Getting to see this country and meet all if you through Thursday Night Football has been the most fun of my career. That said it was sort of a treat to catch up with family and friends at home and skip the hotel situation for this week.

On Wednesday our team went to Hamilton to grab interviews with Delvin Breaux, Mercer Timmis, Charleston Hughes and Marcus Thigpen

We filmed a truly hilarious 20 Questions with Charleston Hughes which you will see in the coming weeks. It broke into a dance party, I laughed so hard I snorted…you know just a typical chat with one of the leagues most entertaining men.

Thursday morning I got to visit our buds at Morning Live on CHCH which made it an early start to Thursday Night Football! We talked about the matchup and also spoke about the episode of The Grind we shot with Ticat Simoni Lawrence in Oakland. If you haven’t seen it – I think it’s worth a watch!

Then it was GAME TIME!! Davis and I were setup outside Tim Hortons Field and people it was such a hot day in Hamilton we were melting. We loved having the Thursday Night Halftime band The Beaches on our show – they won the Juno for Breakthrough Group of the Year and deserve that  title. We played a game about how well they know their idol Avril Lavine…they were SO funny and were awesome sports. Also they played at halftime and everyone I spoke to was totally blown away. I think they gained some new fans (raises hand).

As I was preparing for my TSN bit about the Stipley End Zone bar when I saw this crew of fans who looked like they were having a great time and were all decked out so I asked if they wanted to be in the shot for TSN. Turns out it was Naaman Roosevelt’s family who had driven up from Buffalo! You can tell by the look on my face I was pretty stoked to meet them. They were soooo nice and apparently come to quite a few games in the GTA since it’s a short drive from Buffalo. They said when they are in Hamilton the Stipley is their favourite spot to watch the game from so look our for them next time the Riders are in town and say hello – they truly couldn’t be sweeter.

Here’s a little video of The Beaches – how amazing are they!?

It was an amazing week of football and Davis and I really enjoyed the show this week, we hope you guys did too. Next week we will be in MONTREAL! Can’t wait to hang with all Alouettes fans and find some poutine…and smoked meats sandwiches…et al.
