Ticats sign QB Bryant Moniz

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced the signing of quarterback Bryant Moniz on Wednesday.

With the recent trading of Johnny Manziel to the Montreal Alouettes, the Ticats were left with just two quarterbacks on their roster.

The 29-year old attended training camp with the Ticats in 2018 and has suited up for 38 games during his time in the Canadian Football League, spending time with both the Calgary Stampeders, where he was a member of the 2014 Grey Cup championship team and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Statistically, Moniz has completed two of his four pass attempts in the CFL for 29 yards and a touchdown. The majority of his experience in the league has come in short-yardage situations where he has tallied up 109 yards off of 37 carries, adding six touchdowns on the ground.

The Wahiawa, Hawaii native spent his collegiate career staying close to home, attending the University of Hawaii where he was a member of the Rainbow Warriors football team from 2009 to 2011. He threw for 10,169 yards and 75 touchdowns over the course of 34 games, while also rushing for 512 yards and 13 touchdowns.
