RotoExperts: CFL Week 10 Fantasy Rankings

The Alouettes pass defence hops out of the frying pan that was REDBLACKS pivot Trevor Harris and right into the fire of Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly as Week 10 will bring TSN CFL Fantasy football users to the midway point of the regular season.

Harris ($9,369) passed for 487 yards and completed 44 passes in Saturday’s win over Montreal but managed just one touchdown to finish with 22.1 Fantasy points as the Alouettes forced five turnovers and stayed close in a 24-17 defeat. However, Montreal will face an Edmonton offence that sputtered in the second half of last week’s 31-23 loss to BC and will be looking to vent the frustration of letting a 20-10 halftime lead slip away on the Als.

Reilly ($14,000) was held under 300 yards for the second time in three games yet gets an opportunity to strafe the Montreal secondary in the manner that he did in Week 7 when Reilly passed for 415 yards and four touchdowns and added a fifth score in a 44-23 win. With 23 total touchdowns (16 passing, seven rushing), it will be hard for Fantasy users not to give Reilly a chance to rebound from last week.

Lions’ Travis Lulay faces off against a struggling Toronto secondary this week, which could bode well for the BC signal-caller as he’s yet to exceed 21 Fantasy points. (Patrick Doyle, CFL.ca)

A potential bargain at quarterback will be BC’s Travis Lulay ($6,793), who faces a Toronto pass defence that is near the bottom of the league in most categories. While Lulay has yet to exceed 21 Fantasy points in any of his first four starts, Saturday afternoon has the makings of a potential shootout with Argos gunslinger McLeod Bethel-Thompson ($6,000), who threw four touchdown passes in Toronto’s 42-41 win over Ottawa in Week 8 in what was a Game of the Year candidate.

At running back, James Wilder Jr. ($8,999) will seek to get on track as he and Toronto face a BC run D that has struggled for much of the season. Despite the lofty price, Wilder might be a better bargain than Winnipeg’s Andrew Harris, whose $10,590 salary will be tested when the Blue Bombers take on the REDBLACKS, who have been solid against the run most of the season. Harris’ users will also count on him being a factor in the passing game, as he is 12th in the league with 31 receptions.

Injuries at the position does bring uncertainty. The Lions may get Jeremiah Johnson ($7,345) back after he missed the win over the Eskimos with an ankle injury, but the duo of Chris Rainey ($7,374) and Travon Van ($5,501) become bigger factors if Johnson remains sidelined. Calgary is expecting Don Jackson ($6,283) back after he missed the last two games. However, Romar Morris ($2,500) and Terry Williams ($4,345) will have to be considered if Jackson is unable to answer the bell.

Montreal’s Tyrell Sutton ($6,807) will have appeal when he takes on Edmonton’s run defence, which has allowed 11 rushing majors while allowing nearly six yards per carry.

At receiver, Edmonton’s Derel Walker ($8,559) is the king of the hill as he comes off consecutive 100-yard outings that also saw Walker score in each game. Ottawa’s Brad Sinopoli ($8,746) and his league-high 60 catches will face a challenge against Winnipeg on Friday night, but the Bombers will have their hands full with fellow REDBLACKS pass catchers Diontae Spencer ($8,270) and Greg Ellingson ($5,952) along with rising talent R.J. Harris ($2,847), who will be a bargain play for a second straight week.

Eskimos receiver D’haquille Williams ($8,325) comes into Saturday’s game against the Alouettes bidding to snap his two-game funk, and the presence of the Montreal secondary will be alluring for many Fantasy users to plug him into their lineups one more time. Winnipeg’s do-all receiver Nic Demski ($5,565) has scored in consecutive games and has become the Bombers’ second offensive option behind Andrew Harris.

On the defensive side of things, Winnipeg ($6,199) and Calgary ($6,089) top the list but those who are seeking a bargain can turn to Edmonton ($3,745), who gets the draw against the Alouettes offence this week.
