Report: Pipkin could make second straight start for Als

MONTREAL — TSN’s John Lu is reporting that with Johnny Manziel still sidelined, 23-year-old sophomore Antonio Pipkin will make his second consecutive start for the Montreal Alouettes.

The Als host the Toronto Argonauts in Week 11 on Friday night.

Manziel missed Week 9 action against the Edmonton Eskimos after the team announced he was placed on concussion protocol. Pipkin filled in for Manziel at Commonwealth Stadium last week, connecting on 14 of 25 passes for 217 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Lu tweeted Tuesday that Pipkin is expected to make his second CFL start on Friday with Matthew Shiltz dressing as the backup:

As reported by TSN’s John Lu, Manziel missed his second-straight practice on Wednesday. The 25-year-old was also absent from Als practice on Tuesday.
