Sights, Sounds and Social: Week 14

Week 14 had plenty to celebrate on and off the field, with three thrilling contests and some cool off-field moments.

BC earned a critical road win in Montreal, Calgary stampeded over the Ticats in Hamilton and the REDBLACKS stunned Mosaic Stadium into silence with a 30-25 win over the hometown Riders.

Let’s take a look at how it played out on social.

Friday | BC 32, Montreal 14

It was a big win for Wally Buono’s Lions, and the locker room was appropriately fired up following the game.

The Als gave a salute to Buono, who spent 10 seasons playing in Montreal (1973-1982).

Well wishes poured in for veteran Lions quarterback Travis Lulay โ€” including one from former teammate Ryan Phillips โ€” after he was injured.

Saturday | Calgary 43, Hamilton 28

The Stamps came to play on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton, despite mounting injuries to their receiver group and last week’s loss in Edmonton.

Ticats rookie Shakeir Ryan ripped off a monstrous punt-return touchdown, then sent a post-game tweet to Northwestern State’s track & field coach.

Receiver Reggie Begelton stepped up in a big way for Calgary’s hurting receiver group, racking up 150 yards and a touchdown.

Saturday | Ottawa 30, Saskatchewan 25

The Riders brought it with an incredible pre-game ‘lights out’ theme which proved a hit with fans and players alike.

Granted, it was the REDBLACKS who ultimately came out on top โ€” and boy, did they ever roast the Riders (and CFL.ca writers) afterwards.
