Behar, Carleton get last laugh in #UniversityBlitz beef

A few weeks back, our #UniversityBlitz prediction game caused a stir when Edmonton Eskimos receiver Nate Behar picked — along with our other experts — against the Queen’s Gaels in their battle with Laurier.

Former first-overall CFL draft pick Shomari Williams, now the director of player personnel at Queen’s (his alma mater), took exception to Behar’s pick and said the Gaels would ‘run up the score’ against Carleton — Behar’s school — in their September 15th meeting in Ottawa.

Well, things didn’t quite turn out that way: Carleton earned a 42-39 double-OT victory against the Gaels, moving to 3-1 on the season.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s great to see current and former CFL players retaining strong ties to their university programs, and it’s not unlikely that Behar will find his way back to Carleton once his playing career is over — much the same way Williams has returned to the Gaels, with whom he once starred.
