Winnipeg Blue Bombers fullback John Rush had his hair snipped at Sunday’s Bombers Fan Fest as part of his Cut for the Cure fundraiser.
The University of Guelph alum is raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society, in the hopes of making a small contribution to the research and support services of cancer patients and their families.

The cause is one close to Rush’s heart, as his mother Debbie battled and beat cancer when he was a child.
“It’s something that hits very close to home for me,” Rush told BlueBombers.com‘s Ed Tait. “But my story is not that unique because there are countless other people who have been affected by it. I’m fortunate that my mom pulled through and I was still able to grow up with her.
“It’s been quite a journey. I’ll admit it, it’ll be tough to see my hair go, because it’s going to be a big change. But I know it’s going to someone who needs it and so I’m happy about that.”
Donations to Cut for the Cure will be open until Friday, and can be made here.
