TORONTO — International linebacker Bear Woods is back on the Argos’ injured list, the Toronto Sun‘s Frank Zicarelli reported Tuesday.
Woods, who started the 2018 season on the six-game injured list and didn’t make his debut until Aug. 24, is expected to miss at least the next two weeks.
“He’s better than we thought initially,’’ Head Coach Marc Trestman told Zicarelli. “He’ll be week to week, but I think he has a chance in the next few weeks to possibly be back.”
While Woods begins his recovery, the Argos are on the mend from their 30-29 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, in which Zack Medeiros missed a potential game-winning 51-yard field goal.
The veteran linebacker had two defensive tackles and one more on special teams in the game.
In addition to replacing Woods this week, the Argos could also have a new kicker in the lineup. According to Zicarelli, Medeiros was injured during Saturday’s game and had an MRI on Sunday.
The team has since signed national kicker/punter Felix Menard-Briere. The 22-year-old was taken by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the fourth round of the 2017 CFL Draft and has spent parts of 2018 with Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal.
The Argos, now 3-9, take on the Calgary Stampeders on Friday night, as they look to bust a three-game slump at McMahon Stadium while keeping their playoff hopes afloat.
