Argos lose James Wilder Jr. to injury against Stamps

CALGARY — Toronto Argonauts running back James Wilder Jr. left in the second quarter against the Calgary Stampeders with an injury on Friday night.

There was no immediate word on the severity but he was seen on the sidelines in the second half in street clothes and the club told TSN that the star tailback sustained an “upper body injury”.

The 26-year-old runner exited the game after being tackled by Calgary linebacker Alex Singleton. Wilder had carried the ball six times for 26 yards and caught four passes for 18 yards before suffering the injury.

Dexter McCluster — who was making his CFL debut after seven weeks on the injured list — closed out the game in the backfield for the Boatmen.
