Lemon and Coleman lead by example in Leos win

VANCOUVER — In a game that featured all sorts of pressure from all sorts of angles, the question on everyone’s mind heading into this Week 17 matchup was, how will Jon Jennings react to the call of his General Manager? Interestingly enough, this was a big game for Shawn Lemon and his defensive squad.

The Lions held off the Argos 26-23 in what looked like it very well could have been a big time Argos comeback, but with four tackles and a sack of his own, Lemon wasn’t going to let his former team sneak away with a win, not in his BC Lions den and especially considering what he knows.

“I know how they practice over there. I was telling the guys on the sideline, this game isn’t over, I know how they practice, they practice like at a fast pace. I know they have time to get back into the game,” Lemon told TSN’s Farhan Lalji after the game.

“It means a lot you know, I’m just glad the guys got to finish the game. You know we started out good last time and weren’t able to finish. Today we finished well,” added Lemon.

Lemon earned his ninth sack of his campaign, his second against his former team since he got dealt.

“I’m just trying to be the best defensive end I could be. Sometimes you get traded and that lights the fire under you and I’m just trying to be the best I could be for the BC Lions.”

Meanwhile, aside from Lemon’s lone pick, the unit got four interceptions, two of them coming from the mitts of defensive tackle Davon Coleman.

“I don’t know how he does it, he’s very productive, knocks down passes, catches interceptions, but I know one thing. I told the equipment manager that he needed to get him a bigger helmet next week because I know his personality, he’s going to have a very big head next week,” Lemon said on his teammates performance tonight.
