Which touchdown celebration was best through Week 17?

The Riders’ Troll Stroll is the winner once again this week.

57 per cent of you liked the Roughriders trip up the stairs at Investors Group Field better than Marken Michel’s lightsaber fight with his teammate, Lemar Durant.

This week, the Riders go head-to-head with two defensive lineman who did the same holiday-themed celebration – Charleston Hughes and Alex Bazzie.

First, let’s get a quick reminder of Saskatchewan’s stroll up the stairs.

With just over a minute left in the second quarter, Bombers QB Matt Nichols scrambled in the pocket looking for someone to pass the ball to on the Riders seven yard line. He ended up finding a pair of gloves to pass the ball to, but it wasn’t one of his teammates.

The ball popped out of Nichols’ hands and right into Riders linebacker Sam Eguavoen’s mitts. Eguavoen ran down the field and into the end zone fore the 103-yard score to give Saskatchewan a 20-17 lead.

The last few weeks, the Bombers have been walking up the stairs to celebrate with their fans so the Riders decided, why don’t we do the same? So funny.

Something tells me Bombers fans weren’t too happy about it!

Now on to the challenger.

During Monday’s Thanksgiving contest between the Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders, two D-linemen did the same celebration after two different plays.

Let’s start with Hughes.

The Riders were trailing the Esks 6-3 with just under five minutes left in the second quarter. On first and ten, Reilly dropped back as the pocket started to collapse, he scrambled away from one sack but right down the middle rushed Hughes who hauled the Edmonton quarterback down for a sack.

Hughes substituted his usual surfing celebration for one that resembled a turkey in the spirit of the holiday.

Just a few minutes later, Alex Bazzie got into the holiday spirit as well.

With things tied up at six, the Riders had the ball and were looking to move down the field to score once more before the half ended. Zach Collaros was sacked, the ball popped loose and Bazzie pounced on the loose rock to hand things right back over to the Esks.

That’s when Bazzie did the same celebration as Hughes. Amazing.
