CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have added receiver Bakari Grant to the practice roster, the team announced on Tuesday.

The six-foot-four, 205-pounder joins the Stamps for the second time in his career, spending the 2016 season in Calgary. That season, Grant played in 10 games and hauled in 625 yards and four touchdowns.

Before the 2018 season began, Grant was one of three veteran receivers released from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The 31-year-old suited up in 18 games with the Riders in 2017, hauling in 1,033 yards – his first season to surpass the 1,000 yard mark – and caught five major scores.

Grant spent five seasons (2011-2015) with the Tiger-Cats before heading to Calgary, with his best season coming in 2013 where he caught 947 yards and three touchdowns.

The pass-catcher has extensive post-season experience with 10 playoff games as well as three Grey Cup appearances – with Hamilton in 2013 and 2014 and with Calgary in 2016. He has 37 career post-season receptions for 663 yards and three touchdowns.

Grant attended training camp with the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers in 2010. Before turning pro, he played four seasons at the University of California-Davis and had 154 receptions for 1,937 yards and 18 touchdowns over his career with the Aggies. He was first-team All-Great West Conference in 2009 and second-team in 2007 and 2008.

With injuries making their way through the Stampeders receiving corps, Grant will add some much-needed help at the position heading into the playoffs.
