Checking Down: The latest on Mo Leggett, Micah Awe and more

Adam Gagnon, CFL.ca

TORONTO — The injuries continue to pile up as we continue to inch closer to the conclusion of the CFL regular season.

Lions Wally Buono reported that Micah Awe will likely be good to go for this week’s game against the Roughriders. The BC linebacker suffered an injury to his knee is Week 19’s game against the Eskimos.

Coming so close to finally returning from an injury sustained earlier in the season, Winnipeg’s Maurice Leggett was carted off the field during practice this week. Mike O’Shea reported that he does not believe it is in any way related to his initial injury that he was set to return from.

Meanwhile, in Montreal, any speculation of a late-season quarterback controversy was quickly shot down when Johnny Manziel returned to taking first-team reps at practice. It was reported by several sources that Antonio Pipkin was taking reps with the starting offence before Manziel took over.
