Exclusive sit-down with Hamilton’s Don Unamba

CFL.ca’s Davis Sanchez had the chance to catch up with Hamilton Tiger-Cats LB/DB Don Unamba today at Tim Hortons Field ahead of the Ticats’ #GCPlayoffs Semi-Final clash against BC on Sunday.

“They’ve got a really good group over there,” said Unamba of the Lions offence. “They got even better when they added Sutty (running back Tyrell Sutton). Our number-one goal is going to be stopping the run. They’ve (also) got some good receivers.

“It’s a collective group, obviously I’m looking at Burnham and those guys. Good speed on the outside with 88 (Shaq Johnson) — he’s sneaky, and he made a play against us when we played them at their house.”

As for potential ‘under-the-radar’ performers on the Hamilton offence, Unamba pointed to a pair of nationals.

“We have a bunch of offensive players that we’re just waiting to have explosive games, or that have had explosive games,” said Unamba. “(Mercer) Timmis, Erls (Sean Thomas-Erlington), they are ballers.”

Kickoff on the Eastern Semi-Final is slated for 1 p.m. ET; keep it locked to CFL.ca and the league’s various social channels (@CFL) for unparalleled coverage.
