Division Final Fantasy Locks: One Stamps receiver you can lean on

Jimmy Jeong/CFL.ca

TORONTO — With some uncertainty in the Calgary Stampeders receiving corps, the CFL Fantasy Podcast crew believes there’s one Stamps receiver you can lean on in the division final.

It’s time to level up for the playoffs. Set your TSN CFL Fantasy lineup this week and be entered to win $2,000!

The return of both DaVaris Daniels and Eric Rogers creates a situation where only three of five available international receivers can start, leaving someone’s starting role in jeopardy.

Pat Steinberg, Hannah Nordman and Jeff Krever believe Chris Matthews is one player that can be relied upon this week, while his price tag makes him an optimal buy.

“I don’t want to commit more of my salary than I have to and he’s sitting at $3,500, but I also think he’s going to have a big game,” said Nordman. “I think he’s going to get close to that 20-point mark if not above it.”

The trio weighed in with their locks and more insight in this week’s CFL Fantasy Podcast:

While Nordman is looking at a value receiver for her lock, Krever and Steinberg are turning to quarterbacks they believe will have a big game.

REDBLACKS pivot Trevor Harris and Stamps slinger Bo Levi Mitchell will make their 2018 post-season debuts on Sunday after benefiting from a first-round bye.

“I really love the way Trevor Harris has been playing,” said Krever. “He needs to have a big game. This is a career-defining point for him and going head to head with Jeremiah Masoli and the matchup that’s there, I love what Harris can do with those receivers. The ball’s going to be in the air a lot. Big game coming from Trevor Harris.”

Steinberg, meanwhile, is expecting big things from Mitchell in a matchup of the CFL’s two highest-scoring teams.

“I love Bo Levi Mitchell,” he said. :I look at what Caglary did in the final game of the year against BC. The fact that they’ve had an extra week of work to get receivers and quarterback on the same page and some of the receivers he’s started to find chemistry with, add that to Rogers and Daniels likely being available in the Western Final . . . The Stampeders are tough to beat at home and I think he has a big game against the Bombers.”
