Edmonton releases defensive back Mercy Maston

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have released international defensive back Mercy Maston to pursue an opportunity in the NFL, the team announced on Thursday.

Maston was set to become a free agent in February.

In his second season in Edmonton, the 26-year-old suited up in 12 games and collected 30 defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles and two interceptions. In 2017, his rookie season in green and gold, the five-foot-11, 208-pounder played in seven games and amassed 27 defensive tackles.
