Ticats announce football operations staff for 2019

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Thursday the club’s football personnel staff. Drew Allemang and Shawn Burke have been appointed Senior Directors of Personnel and Co-Managers of Football Operations. The team also announced the additions of Spencer Zimmerman as Director of U.S. Scouting and Jim Barker as Football Operations Consultant. Eric Tillman, who spent the previous six seasons with the Tiger-Cats in various roles, will not return in 2019.

Allemang and Burke will lead player personnel, scouting and football administration for the Tiger-Cats, working closely with Head Coach Orlondo Steinauer.

Allemang has been a part of the Tiger-Cats football operations department for 11 seasons, most recently serving as Assistant General Manager and Director of Canadian Scouting since 2016. The Hamilton, Ontario native previously held titles of Director of Canadian Scouting, Coordinator of Canadian Player Development and Head Canadian Scout, and Coordinator of Football Operations with the Tiger-Cats.

Burke, a native of Guelph, Ontario, previously served as Assistant General Manager and Director of Football Operations for the Tiger-Cats from 2016 to 2018. He originally joined the organization in 2007 and has served in numerous roles, including Director of Football Operations, Director of Football Administration, and Director of Community Relations and Communications.

Zimmerman spent the previous three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, most recently serving as Assistant General Manager from 2017 to 2018 after one season as Director of Scouting and Pro Development in 2016. The London, Ontario native began his career with the Tiger-Cats, serving four years (2012-15) in various roles including Pro/College Scout, and Coordinator of Scouting and Football Operations.

Barker most recently served as General Manager of the Toronto Argonauts for six seasons (2011-16) and helped lead the team to a Grey Cup championship in 2012. The Pasadena, California native also served as Toronto’s head coach from 2010 to 2011, assuming a dual role in 2011. Barker’s football career has spanned over 40 years, holding positions in the CFL, XFL and NCAA, and he is a four-time Grey Cup champion (1997, 2002, 2008 & 2012) as both a coach and football executive.
