HAMILTON — All-Star receiver Brandon Banks will be back in Hamilton next season after signing a two-year contract extension, according to a report from 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk.

Banks was set to become a free agent next month and was ranked at No. 7 on CFL.ca’s top 30 pending free agent list.

The 31-year-old hit career highs in catches (94), yards (1,423) and touchdowns (11) in 2018, his first full season as a starting receiver. Banks amassed 1,011 yards in 2017, his first 1000-yard performance, catching 67 passes and eight touchdowns.

Before his transition to starting pass-catcher midway through 2017, the five-foot-seven, 150-pounder was used primarily as a returner. Over his career, he has 270 punt returns for 2,814 yards and seven touchdowns, 179 kickoff returns for 3,689 yards and one major score and 11 missed field goal returns for 486 yards and three touchdowns.

He was named a CFL All-Star in 2014, 2015 and 2018 while also taking home East Division honours in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
