The JUNO Awards unveiled its list of 2019 nominees on Tuesday, and a number of performers who featured at some point during the 2018 CFL season are up for awards.

Most notably, Freedom Mobile Grey Cup halftime performer Alessia Cara is up for both Single of the Year (‘Growing Pains’) and Artist of the Year; Cara brought the heat at the 106th Grey Cup in Edmonton with a powerful performance that drew rave reviews.

The Country Album of the Year category is loaded with familiar faces for CFL fans; Tim Hicks performed on Thursday Night Football in Saskatchewan; The Reklaws played the Sirius XM Kickoff Show at Grey Cup and provided us with the iconic ‘Long Live The Night’; Brett Kissel rocked an Argos halftime show and nailed ‘O Canada’ at the Grey Cup; Jess Moskaluke lit up Mosaic Stadium at a Riders game.

Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine, who rocked the opening Thursday Night Football concert series in Ottawa last June, are up for Breakthrough Group of the Year.

Loud brought it in Montreal in late July, and is up for Francophone Album of the Year for ‘Une Année Record’.

Monster Truck is nominated for Rock Album of the Year with ‘True Rockers’; the Hamilton-based band brought it at the Ticats’ Labour Day game last season.

Plenty of artists we had the chance to see around the Canadian Football League in 2018!
