EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent cover linebacker Don Unamba to a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Unamba transitioned from defensive back to SAM linebacker in 2018 with the Ticats and enjoyed his most productive season of his career. The 29-year-old collected 59 defensive tackles, four sacks, one interception, one touchdown and three forced fumbles in his first full season in Hamilton.

It’s been a busy day for the Eskimos, who have restocked the shelves on defence with key signings Jovan Santos-Knox and Larry Dean. On the opposite side of ball, the Esks have added Trevor Harris, Greg Ellingson and SirVincent Rogers.
Over his career, the six-foot-one, 195-pounder has spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2014), Saskatchewan Roughriders (2015), Montreal Alouettes (2017) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2017, 2018).
Unamba was named a CFL and East Division All-Star in 2018 and was ranked No. 16 on CFL.ca’s top 30 pending free agent list.
