Esks ink former Stamps pass-catcher Daniels

EDMONTON — DaVaris Daniels is switching sides in the Battle of Alberta.

The star receiver has signed with the Edmonton Eskimos, the team announced Tuesday, as the team continues its overhaul on the first day of free agency.

Daniels, 26, was one of the Stampeders’ top receivers the last few years, scoring 20 touchdowns and totaling 2,375 yards in three seasons.

The move bolsters the Eskimos’ receiving corps, which lost star receivers Bryant Mitchell and D’haquille Williams to the NFL before the start of free agency.

After losing former Most Outstanding Player Mike Reilly, the Eskimos have added Trevor Harris and receiver Greg Ellingson as they look to restock on offence.
