VANCOUVER — According to TSN‘s Farhan Lalji, BC Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian and Canadian offensive lineman David Foucault could be on the move.
Lalji reported Friday, on Twitter, that the team is ‘exploring trade possibilities’ for the two veteran players.
“GM Ed Hervey declined comment,” Lalji Tweeted. “He did say at the Reilly signing that fans could expect the team to have to part with some familiar names.”
Elimimian has been a popular figure in BC and a face of the Lions’ defence throughout his nine seasons with the team, recording 745 tackles throughout his 118 career games. In addition to winning a Grey Cup with the team in 2011, Elimimian is a two-time Most Outstanding Defensive Player and, in 2014, became the first defender in the modern era to win Most Outstanding Player.

The Lions acquired Foucault in 2017 in a trade with the Alouettes. The 6-foot-7, 323-pound guard from Montreal was a first-round CFL Draft pick (fifth overall) in 2014 but spent three seasons with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. Foucault started all 18 games for the Lions last season at guard.
It’s been a busy off-season on the West Coast, where Hervey has been one of the most active GMs since the start of free agency. In addition to signing the biggest name on the market in Mike Reilly, the team has also signed receiver Duron Carter, offensive guard Sukh Chungh and defensive back Aaron Grymes.
It was the addition of Chungh that could make Foucault expendable, as Chungh and Hunter Steward are the projected starting guards on the Lions’ O-line.
Should the Lions part ways with Elimimian, national linebacker Jordan Herman and free agent addition Maleki Harris could be the team’s starting linebackers in 2019.
