Schooners widen online presence with launch of new site

HALIFAX — While the process of securing a potential tenth CFL team continues, the Atlantic Schooners have began their online footprint with the launch their new website and social accounts.

Schooners.ca launched earlier this week and will act as the official home for all things CFL football out East.  The site will feature updates on the franchise, ticket information, insights and general news from around the League.

Fans can also follow on Twitter and Instagram under the @schoonersatl handle.

The latest endeavour for the Atlantic Schooners centres around trying to secure preliminary season ticket interest and securing a stadium site.  Fans are encouraged to support the initiative by placing a $50 deposit on tickets and also secure first access to seat selection.

Maritime Football Ltd. and CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie celebrate the official announcement of the Atlantic Schooners team name last November in Edmonton (CFL.ca).

It has been a busy couple of months for the Atlantic Schooners, most recently announcing that they there will be a second Town Hall taking place at the end of the month.  After officially revealing their team name last November, it was announced that the Maritimes will host their first regular season CFL game since 2013 when the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes square off on August 25th.

Prior team naming and the ticket deposit announcement, the last significant development in the process occurred last June when Maritime Football Ltd. agreed to enter a three-step process that included a meeting with city council.

Despite recent momentum, Ambrosie has maintained that all due diligence will be taken, and the league will take a careful, measured approach to ensure the success of any potential 10th franchise.

Last February, Ambrosie hosted a Town Hall discussion in Halifax to gauge interest from fans and partners alike as he met with the prospective ownership group.

The Maritime Football Limited Partnership is led by a group of three individuals – Anthony LeBlanc, the former owner and CEO of an NHL franchise with roots in New Brunswick; Bruce Bowser, a national business owner from Dartmouth; and Gary Drummond, an entrepreneur and former NHL owner and executive from Western Canada.
