William Fields leaves Esks for XFL coaching opportunity

EDMONTON — William Fields has left the Edmonton Eskimos for a coaching opportunity in the XFL, the team announced on Thursday.

“William had an opportunity for a promotion with the XFL Tampa organization, as he’ll move up from Defensive Assistant to Defensive Backs coach,” said General Manager and Vice President of Football Operations Brock Sunderland. “We’d like to wish William all the best in the XFL, and thank him for his contributions to the Eskimos organization.”

The Esks also announced the team has added Derek Oswalt to the 2019 coaching staff as a defensive assistant.
