Fantasy Status Report: All eyes on Ticats’ running back

The Canadian Press

TSN CFL Fantasy presented by LeoVegas is easy for any fan to play, with just seven roster spots and a $40,000 salary cap.

However, success does require a healthy team, with all seven players in active CFL lineups. With such small rosters, a wasted position can be a devastating blow to your week’s score.

In addition, practice reports can be the source of hidden gems that produce big numbers despite low ownership percentage, providing an edge over the rest of the field.

With that, CFL.ca breaks down some of the critical roster notes for each game.

Saskatchewan at Ottawa

Emmanuel Arceneaux, WR, SSK

Veteran receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux ($5,645) will remained sidelined for the Riders in Week 2. He’s only on the 1-game injured list, but ‘The Manny Show’ is coming off season-ending surgery last September and there’s no reason to rush him back into the lineup.

Cody Fajardo, QB, SSK

The Riders have announced that Cody Fajardo ($5,082) will start on Thursday night, but rookie Isaac Harker ($2,500) will also receive playing time. Regular starter Zach Collaros ($4,586) was injured on the first drive of the team’s season-opener vs. Hamilton.

Zach Collaros, QB, SSK

The Riders have placed Zach Collaros ($4,586) on the 6-game injured list. Collaros is eligible to return earlier, but he’ll miss at least the next few weeks after suffering a injury in the head/neck area last Thursday.

Isaac Harker, QB, SSK

Rookie Isaac Harker ($2,500) won’t get the start in Week 2, but Head Coach Craig Dickenson said he’d see the field in what’s looking like a rotation at quarterback. Even at his discounted price, the 23-year-old is a risky option given he may not play all that much.

Nate Behar, WR, OTT

REDBLACKS receiver Nate Behar is out of the lineup for Thursday’s contest vs. Saskatchewan. The 24-year-old didn’t make a catch in last week’s season-opener.

BC at Edmonton
Friday | 9:00 p.m. ET

DaVaris Daniels, WR, EDM

Injured receiver DaVaris Daniels ($7,034) could dress, but is listed as a backup on the Eskimos’ depth chart this week. He could be a scratch on game day, so at this point Fantasy users are advised to stay away.

Brandon Rutley, RB, BC

Things can change quickly, but it appears Brandon Rutley ($5,316) is locked into a primary return and backup running role in BC. Rutley didn’t have a carry last week, while John White ($4,320) handled the Lions’ workload — all four carries. Despite scoring a kick return touchdown, Rutley is a risky play without a bigger role on offence.

John White, RB, BC

Despite having just four carries in Week 1, John White ($4,320) appears to be the featured back in the BC Lions’ offence. Look for him to see an increased role this week when he takes on his former team in Edmonton.

Hamilton at Toronto

Sean Thomas-Erlington, RB, HAM

After leaving in the fourth quarter, Sean Thomas-Erlington ($4,083) appears to be ready to go in Week 2. The price tag has gone up a bit, but the dual-threat back remains a solid buy going into a key matchup with the Argos.
