Alouettes ink Chris Ackie to one-year deal

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes announced on Monday that the club has signed national linebacker Chris Ackie to a one-year deal.

Ackie (6’2”, 205 lbs.) played four seasons with the Alouettes. The 27-year-old Cambrige, Ont. native is coming off his best season as he amassed 88 defensive tackles with Montreal and Ottawa in 2018, which was the sixth highest total in the CFL. He was traded from Montreal to Ottawa in the last weeks of the season, as the Alouettes acquired the REDBLACKS’ second-round pick in the 2019 CFL Draft, which they used to select defensive lineman Nathaniel Anderson.

In 54 career games the Alouettes first round pick (fourth overall) in 2015 collected 109 defensive tackles and 22 on special teams.

The team also announced that Canadian safety Taylor Loffler has been placed on active roster and is expected to return to the lineup this Saturday in Ottawa.

The club also added American offensive lineman Brandin Bryant (Florida Atlantic), as well as American receivers Dante Absher (Glenville State) and Marcus Taylor (Norfolk State) to the practice roster.
