Jennings to start for REDBLACKS vs. Bombers

OTTAWA — When the Ottawa REDBLACKS take the field in Week 6, they’ll have a new pivot under centre.

Head coach Rick Campbell confirmed after practice on Tuesday that Jonathon Jennings will start after he practiced with the first-team offence.

The REDBLACKS’ bench boss also said that starting quarterback Dominique Davis will not play due to an injury.

Jennings signed with the REDBLACKS as a free agent this past off-season. He previously spent the last four seasons with the BC Lions. In 2018, he appeared in 10 games, going 161-for-239 for 1,628 yards while throwing eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Davis won the starting role out of training camp and has started all four games for the REDBLACKS. Through four games, he’s completed 103 of 156 passes for 1,132 yards with three touchdowns and seven picks.

The Ottawa REDBLACKS will travel to play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday.
