OTTAWA — Ottawa REDBLACKS quarterback Dominique Davis is “very hopeful” to return for the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Montreal Alouettes, head coach Rick Campbell told TSN 1200.

Campbell said last week that Davis was still a week away from returning to game action, and while he did suit up and stand on the sidelines against the Calgary Stampeders in Week 7, the pivot didn’t have any snaps under centre.

Jonathon Jennings made his second straight start for the REDBLACKS. He finished an efficient 15-for-18 passing with 125 yards and one touchdown while tossing a pair of interceptions in Ottawa’s 17-16 loss to the Stamps.

Davis was named the team’s starter out of training camp and is 2-2 on the year. He’s completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,132 yards while throwing three touchdowns and seven interceptions. The 30-year-old also has 76 rushing yards and five scores on the ground on 15 carries.

Ottawa will travel to Percival Molson Memorial Stadium for a big East Division matchup with the Als on Friday.
