Week 12 Fantasy Locks: Ticats, Esks to rule Mark’s LD Weekend?

TORONTO — It’s Mark’s Labour Day Weekend and the league’s biggest rivalries take centre stage.

A three-game slate narrows the field a little bit, but there are plenty of difficult roster choices to be made.

For Pat Steinberg, Jeff Krever and Hannah Nordman of the CFL Fantasy Podcast presented by LeoVegas, the Eskimos and Tiger-Cats dominate this week’s Fantasy locks.

Steinberg and Nordman are going with the Ticats’ passing duo of Dane Evans and Bralon Addison — with their combined salary of under $11,500 — against a suspect Argos secondary.

“He is the cheapest starting quarterback out there in Week 12,” Steinberg said of Evans. “He has a ceiling, you’re probably not going to get a 30-point game out of Dane Evans, but if you can get good production out of the rest of your lineup and get 15 from Evans, I think you’re laughing. I think he’s going to have one of his better Fantasy games of the year if not his best, and I’ve got him locked in for Week 12.”

“Bralon Addison at $6,000, a can’t-miss for me,” added Nordman. “He hasn’t found the end zone in a while but he’s getting at least seven receptions in the last four games and in the majority of his games, so you’re getting that PPR, he’s putting up at least mid to high teens.”

Also on Labour Day Monday, the Eskimos will take on the Stampeders in the Battle of Alberta in a game that features five high-priced receivers. Fantasy players have some tough decisions with their WR1 spot, but DaVaris Daniels should see a heavy workload against his former team.

“He’s got the hot hand,” Krever said of Daniels. “Trevor Harris talked about him before the season as a guy that could go off for 1,500 yards. Six or more targets in very game he’s played, including at least eight in each of his last three games. He’s becoming a central part in that offence.”

Sticking with the Battle of Alberta, there’s no denying that Daniels, Ricky Collins and Greg Ellingson are the top targets for Trevor Harris. But there’s value to be had afterwards, especially if you’re expecting plenty of volume in the Esks’ high-powered attack.

“Tevaun Smith had a really solid game last week and was targeted a little more by Trevor Harris,” said Steinberg. “I still think that at $3,300, if you’ve got a cap crunch, even if he goes three catches, 31 yards you’re getting six points out of a cheap player which I think you can reconcile in your mind if you need to get somebody in there.”

“He’s getting his two or three receptions per week and seems to have some chemistry with Trevor Harris,” said Krever. “If you’re expecting volume in this game, Natey Adjei should be in line for some catches. These games are crazy, you never know what’s going to happen. I think there are going to be some points in this game.”

After picking Ticats receiver Bralon Addison as her lock, Nordman is staying in Hamilton for her value pick with Jaelon Acklin.

“You may remember him from his massive 26-point Week 4 that came out of nowhere,” said Nordman. “He’s been kind of silent until Dane Evans stepped in. He’s hit double digits the past two weeks, he’s still just barely under $3,000. I think Acklin gets a good amount of play this week with Dane Evans.”
