Bo Levi Mitchell has been removed from the six-game injured list and could be ready for the Labour Day Classic on Monday.

After missing the last two games, Micah Johnson returns to practice this week for the Riders.

Plus, Johnny Augustine is likely to take over in the Bombers backfield.

–  A new career mark in a single game (207 yards) helped Esks receiver DaVaris Daniels to a Shaw Top Performer nod after Week 11 (CFL.ca).

– Fresh off his Top Performer honour, Daniels joined Davis Sanchez in this week’s episode of The Waggle presented by SportClips (CFL.ca).

– Quarterback Trevor Harris was named a Top Performer for the month of August, his second monthly honour this season (CFL.ca). 

CALGARY STAMPEDERS

– Bo Levi Mitchell has been taken off the six-game injured list and could be ready in time for the latest edition of the Battle of Alberta on Monday (CFL.ca).

– Running back Ka’Deem Carey was back at practice on Wednesday (Danny Austin, Calgary Sun).

– In roster news, Calgary released American defensive lineman Patrick Choudja on Thursday (Stampeders.com).

SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

 

– The Riders are aiming to take the first half of a back-to-back when they welcome the Bombers to kick off Mark’s Labour Day Weekend (CFL.ca).

– Speaking of the Labour Day Classic, the Riders announced a sell-out for the contest on Wednesday (CFL.ca). 

– It had been almost a year since receiver Naaman Roosevelt scored a touchdown before ending his dry spell last week against the Ottawa REDBLACKS (Rob Vanstone, Regina Leader-Post).

– Defensive tackle Micah Johnson is eyeing a return to the Riders active roster after missing the last two games with an ankle injury (Murray McCormick, Regina Leader-Post).

WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

 

– The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released American receiver Chris Matthews on Wednesday (CFL.ca).

– Call them unconventional, but the Winnipeg Blue Bombers seem to have the winning formula (Matthew Cauz, CFL.ca).

Andrew Harris has been suspended for violating the CFL/CFLPA drug policy, it was announced on Monday (CFL.ca).

– Harris released a statement after the announcement of his two-game suspension (CFL.ca).

– Head coach Mike O’Shea, OL Stanley Bryant and QB Matt Nichols speak to the media following the announcement of Harris’ two-game suspension (CFL.ca).

– With Harris out of the lineup, the focus now turns to who will fill in for the star running back in the back field and it could be Canadian Johnny Augustine or American John Santiago (Ed Tait, BlueBombers.com).

– Augustine and receiver Darvin Adams took first-team reps at practice on Wednesday (CFL.ca).

– Jackson Jeffcoat was at practice in cleats and running after missing the Bombers last three games on Wednesday. The defensive end is eligible to officially start practicing next week (Darrin Bauming, TSN1290).

HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

At the halfway point of the season, Wynn has already surpassed his career-high in sacks and is close to hitting new highs in tackles (Johany Jutras/CFL.ca)

– In just his first season as the head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Orlondo Steinauer has the team sitting atop the East and is still learning daily in his new role (Jim Morris, CFL.ca).

– The Ticats announced on Monday that their Labour Day Classic against the Argonauts is sold out (CFL.ca).

– Defensive tackle Dylan Wynn was named a Shaw Top Performer for Week 11 and for the month of August (CFL.ca).

– According to the Ticats play-by-play voice Marshall Ferugson, Dane Evans hasn’t been spectacular since taking over for Jeremiah Masoli but he’s figuring it out (TSN1260).

– DT Ted Laurent, DE Adrian Tracy, REC Luke Tasker, DB Cariel Brooks and LB Nick Shortill were all not practicing on Thursday (Kyle Melo, TSN1150).

– LT Ryker Mathews was a full participant on Thursday (Kyle Melo, TSN1150).

TORONTO ARGONAUTS

– Despite a losing record, McLeod Bethel-Thompson is turning his season around after three strong performances in a row (CFL.ca).

– They’re 1-8 on the season and head coach Corey Chamblin says that his Argonauts are staying mentally strong to get through the slump (Mike Hogan, Argonauts.ca). 

– The Argos signed seven-year-old running back Darius Raso, who is battling acute lymphocytic leukemia, to a one-day contract on Thursday (CFL.ca).

MONTREAL ALOUETTES

Vernon Adams Jr. had an impressive outing during Touchdown Atlantic on Sunday (Johany Jutras/CFL.ca)

– The Montreal Alouettes signed quarterback Matthews Shiltz to a one-year contract extension on Monday (CFL.ca).

Vernon Adams Jr. was on target last weekend and is on the rise in this week’s passing accuracy grades (Marshall Ferguson, CFL.ca).

– The Alouettes and Argonauts put on one of the best games of the season during Touchdown Atlantic last weekend (Chris O’Leary, CFL.ca).
