CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders could have their biggest offensive star back in time for the latest edition of the Battle of Alberta on Monday.

Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has been removed from the six-game injured list, the team announced Thursday, and is expected to return to practice.

Mitchell has been out of action since Week 3 after suffering a pectoral injury to his throwing arm during a game against the BC Lions.

The 2018 CFL Most Outstanding Player and Grey Cup MVP was working towards a return against the Montreal Alouettes in Week 10. However, the Stamps opted to extend Mitchell’s stay on the injured list.

In two starts this season, Mitchell has thrown for 527 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Nick Arbuckle has filled in as the starter during Mitchell’s absence. He’s completed 73 per cent of his passes for 2,103 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. He also has three rushing scores.

It is still unclear who the starter will be for the Week 12 showdown.

The Stamps and Esks cap off Mark’s Labour Day Weekend with a clash on Sept. 2. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
