Charleston Hughes placed on 1-game injured list

Arthur Ward/

REGINA — After getting their defensive line back to full strength in Week 12, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are a man down once again.

Defensive end Charleston Hughes will miss the Riders’ Week 14 contest against the Montreal Alouettes after being placed on the one-game injured list.

The 35-year-old currently leads the league in sacks with 13 to go along with 38 tackles and four forced fumbles in 11 contests.

Hughes is in his second season with Saskatchewan. Over his 12-year CFL career, he’s put up 445 sacks, 127 sacks, three interceptions and 30 forced fumbles in 175 games.

Earl Okine will get the start at defensive end in place of Hughes. He’s appeared in five games this season, collecting three tackles while returning a fumble to the house.

Chad Geter, who re-signed with the Riders earlier in the week, will be the backup for Okine.

The Roughriders will welcome the Alouettes to Mosaic Stadium for their showdown to end Week 14 action. Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. ET.
