The university football season rolls firmly into its back half this week, as U SPORTS Week 6 offers a tantalizing Top-10 matchup in Ontario and some excellent viewing coast-to-coast.
The week’s marquee matchup is in Guelph, where the Gryphons (No. 6, 3-2) host the Ottawa Gee-Gees (No. 8, 3-1) in a tasty OUA matchup.
Other intriguing games in Ontario include a resurgent Queen’s (2-3) visiting Laurier (1-3) — the loser of which’s season is likely over — and Toronto (2-2) at Carleton (1-3) in a similar situation.
Out west, Alberta (No. 10, 3-1) will look to take another step towards a possible home playoff game against cellar-dweller UBC (0-4).
Amongst the top dogs, all are favourites wins: No. 1 Western (5-0) visits struggling Windsor (1-4), No. 2 Montreal (4-0) plays offensively-challenged Concordia (1-3) and No. 4 Calgary (4-0) faces a trap-game trip to Saskatchewan (2-2).
