Sights, Sounds & Social: Week 16

Week 16 had it all; a statement win for the Tabbies, a Riderville takeover in Toronto and as per usual some of the most passionate fans in Canada.

Let’s take a look at how the week played out on social media.

Hamilton 33, Winnipeg 13

Hamilton made a statement in Winnipeg on Friday night, solidifying its status as a Grey Cup contender and casting doubt on Winnipeg’s claim in the process.

Ticats social’s post-game win graphics continue to be excellent.

Edmonton 21, Ottawa 16

The Esks got off to a bright start before a ball was even touched, as offensive lineman Travis Bond and the rest of the big men came out of the tunnel early to chat with the Orleans Bengals youth team.

Edmonton showed a lot of resiliency in the win, and took a big step towards securing a playoff spot in the process.

A pair of former Iowa Hawkeyes connected post-game for an on-field photo at TD Place.

Despite the loss, the REDBLACKS stayed winning off the field hosting a number of youth football teams from the area and a camper from JP Bolduc’s Autism Ontario camp.

Saskatchewan 41, Toronto 16

The Riders clinched a berth in the Shaw #RoadtotheGreyCup playoffs with a dominant win at BMO Field on Saturday night, and players took to social to celebrate.

Saskatchewan was backed by a boisterous contingent of green on the roadtrip.

The Riders seem to be arrow-up at the right time, making their rivalry game at home next week vs. Winnipeg even more interesting.

BC 25, Montreal 23

Saturday’s nightcap saw the BC Lions stave off elimination from playoff contention with a nail-biting 25-23 win.

Let it be known: Leo the Lion’s got moves.

Things got wild towards the end of the fourth quarter with Montreal driving to try and win the ballgame.
