CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have lost one of their prominent pass-catchers for the remainder of the season.
Receiver Markeith Ambles is done for the year after having surgery on his ankle, Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson announced on Monday.
The 27-year-old was in the midst of his second CFL campaign. In 15 career games with the Stampeders, Ambles has put up 713 yards and four touchdowns on 63 receptions. He’d posted 407 yards on 35 catches in nine contests this season, including a career-high 108 yards in Week 3 against the BC Lions.
Calgary is currently going through some injury trouble at receiver. Along with Ambles, Reggie Begelton and Richie Sindani were placed on the one-game injured list before the team’s Week 15 game against Toronto while Kamar Jorden and Juwan Brescacin are currently on the six-game.
The Stamps are coming in off a bye week and will take on Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
