WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back Andrew Harris now holds the record for most career rushing yards by a Canadian in the CFL.

Harris needed just 49 yards on the ground against the Calgary Stampeders on Friday night to eclipse the mark previously held by CFL Hall of Famer Norm Kwong, who had 9,022 yards over his 13-year CFL career.

The 32-year-old achieved the milestone with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

With his effort on Friday, Harris also moved into eighth all-time in career rushing yards in league history. He’ll look to track down Joffrey Reynolds next.

Back in Week 10, Harris also passed former Montreal receiver Ben Cahoon (13,368 yards) to become the all-time leader in scrimmage yards among Canadians in a victory over the BC Lions.

Harris’ record-setting run helped to set up a walk-off field goal by kicker Justin Medlock that helped give the Bombers a 29-28 victory at home.
