TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts will be missing playmakers on both sides of the ball when they take the field against the Ottawa REDBLACKS.

Running backs James Wilder Jr. and Chris Rainey along with defensive back Abdul Kanneh were all placed on the one-game injured list ahead of Saturday’s contest.

Wilder has rushed for 444 yards and a touchdown on 88 carries and added 406 yards and another four scores in the passing game. The 27-year-old missed time earlier in the year after he suffered a rib injury in Week 6.

Rainey, 31, has 220 yards on 45 runs in 16 games this season. He’s added 134 yards on 18 catches and 1,792 yards combined in kick and punt returns in 2019. Rainey also returned a punt for a touchdown against the BC Lions in Week 4.

Kanneh has a team-high 70 tackles, one sack, one interception, and a forced fumble while appearing in all of the Argos’ games this season to date.

Wilder and Rainey join running back Brandon Burks on the injured list, leaving AJ Ouellette as the only running back suiting up for Saturday’s game. Declan Cross and Regis Cibasu will also be active in the backfield.

Ouellette, 24, made his CFL debut in Week 19 against Montreal, totalling 20 yards on four carries.

Receiver Derel Walker will also miss his second consecutive game with an injury. He was placed on the one-game injured list ahead of Week 19 and appears to still be dealing with a nagging injury.

The Argos and REDBLACKS go head-t0-head at BMO Field for the final time in 2019. They are set to kick-off at 4:00 p.m. ET.
