MONTREAL — After playing the majority of the first half of Saturday’s game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. will watch the rest of the game from the sidelines.

In an effort to give his quarterback some rest ahead of the 2019 playoffs, Alouettes head coach Khari Jones opted to lift the 26-year-old pivot from the game after he got some snaps in against the league-best Tabbies.

Coming into the Week 20 matchup, Adams had 3,782 yards and 21 touchdown passes in 15 outings. He tossed for 142 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78 percent of his passes on Saturday.

Backup Matthew Shiltz came in to replace Adams midway through the second quarter.

The Alouettes will host the Eastern Semi-Final on Nov. 10.
