Keith Urban honoured to play Freedom Mobile Grey Cup Halftime Show

CALGARY — Keith Urban touched down in Calgary on Saturday and the anticipation for his Freedom Mobile Halftime show is growing.

Ahead of his rehearsal on the field at McMahon Stadium, Urban took to the gridiron and spoke to members of the media.

“Hopefully a high-energy show,” Urban said when asked what to expect on Sunday night. “Keep everyone warm up and up and motivated with hopefully songs that most everyone knows.”

“It’s an honour. It’s a huge honour,” he said when asked about playing the halftime show. “I’ve watched a couple of other performances from previous halftimes and I feel really honoured to be a part of it.”

The country superstar is excited to hit the stage at halftime but what’s happening on the field before and after his performance is what he’s looking forward to most.

“I’m actually really looking forward to the game,” said Urban. “Obviously I’m looking forward to playing but having never seen a CFL game before, I’m looking forward to seeing one. What a crash course, right? To come and see the Grey Cup.”

And what a Grey Cup he’s in for as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers are set to kick off the 107th Grey Cup presented by Shaw at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday night.
