Riders sign Mitchell Picton to extension

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed two individuals to new contracts on Wednesday, one of which being Canadian receiver Mitchell Picton.

Picton was selected by Saskatchewan with the 37th overall pick in the 2017 CFL Draft.

The 24-year-old made his debut with the Riders in 2019, appearing in two games for the Green and White. He did not register any stats.

The Regina native played in 38 collegiate games over five seasons at the University of Regina (2013-17). While with the Rams, Picton totalled 170 receptions for 2,447 yards and 24 touchdowns.  He led all Canada West receivers in 2016 with 58 catches, 834 yards and 11 touchdowns and was named a 2016 U Sports First Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star.

Saskatchewan also signed Canadian defensive lineman Mathieu Breton to an extension.
