Bombers get iced out with GC107 rings

WINNIPEG — It’s been about nine months since the Winnipeg Blue Bombers became Grey Cup champions and on Thursday, they were finally presented their rings.

The diamond-studded two-toned ring is a stunning story-driven piece highlighting important aspects of the organization’s journey to the 107th Grey Cup.

On the top is the iconic ‘W’ in diamonds and custom Bombers blue enamel. The outer edge of the face is lined with 11 sapphire stones representing the organization’s total championship wins and is complemented by the title of Grey Cup Champions.

Both shoulders of the ring feature intricate details, with one shoulder displaying the player name and number in diamonds over the IG Field background, while the opposite side features the Winnipeg skyline behind the Grey Cup and the Golden Boy, framed by the team name and year.

Finally, the ring is finished with an engraved personalized message unique to each player and with the final score of the 107th Grey Cup etched above “For The W”.

A few players were on hand to receive their rings in person at a private ceremony, including Andrew Harris, Nic Demski, Adam Bighill, Drew Wolitarsky, Thomas Miles, John Rush, Geoff Gray, Chad Rempel and Brady Oliveira. The rest of the team got to take a look on a Zoom call.

“You’d probably think there was going to be a lot of yelling, a lot of shouting, a lot of oohs and aahs,” Bombers slotback Nik Demski told BlueBombers.com’s Ed Tait. “But, honestly, everybody was just silent because your breath is really taken away by this.

“It’s amazing. It’s unbelievable. It’s definitely a memory that’s going to last a lifetime.”
