POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Director of Content Marketing, the Canadian Football League (CFL) is seeking an experienced candidate to spearhead its video production endeavors. This individual will be primarily tasked with developing, creating, and producing compelling video content that not only stimulates conversation and engagement around the league and its players but also reinforces the CFL’s brand identity.

The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership qualities, be a passionate storyteller, a strategic thinker, and an enthusiastic team player. Additionally, they will be responsible for identifying revenue opportunities and further enhancing the CFL brand, while overseeing the creation, distribution, and publication of video content across the CFL’s digital platforms.

Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in creating video content tailored for all CFL digital platforms and exhibit extreme attention to detail. They should not only comprehend the process of taking a production from concept to delivery but also understand how to craft content centered on football, CFL players, and teams, all while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage both internal video staff and gamenight video staff, including oversight of video content calendar.
  • Lead daytoday video strategy development and execution to support marketing initiatives.
  • Demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in presenting the CFL brand.
  • Develop new content franchises with the video team for longform content, shortform content and live content.
  • Management and upkeep of original video asset archive.
  • Work collaboratively with partnerships to develop video content that drives revenue.
  • Collaborate and work closely with internal stakeholders, including extended content team, partnerships, communications, player marketing and CFL clublevel staff to manage daytoday and develop future programming for special events and campaigns.
  • Guide audio and video production of “The Waggle”, the CFL’s weekly podcast. Contribute to weekly production meetings and generate original content ideas.
  • Cover games, events, news and other relevant moments in the CFL calendar.
  • Making databased decisions to optimize and maintain the CFL’s YouTube content strategy.
  • Lead and maintain video content calendar to ensure timely promotion of appropriate leaguerelated content.
  • Serve as a leader and guide to Sr. Coordinator of Video Production.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE):

  • Minimum 5+ years in sports video production experience for a sports brand or media organization.
  • Knowledge and experience shooting with Sony cameras.
  • Strong video editing experience, ideally with Adobe Premiere in Mac environment.
  • Strong understanding of the current sports media landscape, including creating and strategizing organic content.
  • Ability to work on deadlines and handle multiple tasks at once with a precise and detailoriented approach
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as this position may include working days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to organize and prioritize projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including training and presentation abilities.
  • A strong knowledge of the CFL, its rules, teams and players is preferred.

LOCATION:
This role is based in Ontario, at the CFL League Office in Toronto (50 Wellington St. East). The successful candidate must be located in Ontario and able to attend the office at least two days per week. In addition, all employees will be required to attend meetings or other business events at the league office or other venues as business needs dictate.
