Calgary Stampeders (9-2-0)
Change: Even
The Stamps moved into top spot last week and seem as if they want to stay for a while. Bo Levi Mitchell improved on his perfect record as a starter and when it counted the most, Calgary’s pass-catchers came up with huge plays with the game on the line in a win over Hamilton. Next up, they face a tough test in a determined Argos squad.
Toronto Argonauts (7-4-0)
Change: +1
Life without Ricky Ray and Chad Owens isn’t exactly easy but the Argonauts are not only finding a way to win but they’ve managed to keep their distance atop the East Division. Zach Collaros led yet another fourth-quarter comeback – this time against one of the league’s top defences in the Saskatchewn Roughriders. Can they keep up the pace on the remaining two games of their Western road trip?
Saskatchewan Roughriders (8-3-0)
Change: -1
Momentum is indeed a huge factor in football. On Saturday night, the Riders didn’t have it, then they gained possession for most of the game before Toronto took it back. It’s reflective of their season thus far…can they re-gain the form that had them look virtually un-beatable just a few weeks back? Getting Weston Dressler and Ben Heenan back may not hurt.
BC Lions (7-4-0)
Change: Even
The Lions offence came alive in the second half against Montreal but it could have been a costly victory. The health of Travis Lulay will be the big question mark in Week 12 after he took a shot to the shoulder while diving for the goal line. It makes the Buck Pierce acquisition all the more critical if Lulay is out, doesn’t it?
Hamilton Tiger-Cats (5-6-0)
Change: Even
The Tiger-Cats continue to go toe-to-toe with some of the best the West division has to offer, by taking Calgary down to the wire after splitting a mini-set with BC. Henry Burris joined the 50,000-yard club but fell just short of a victory. This week, they head to Moncton to take on Montreal before they get a chance to re-pay the Stampeders a week later.
Montreal Alouettes (4-7-0)
Change: Even
Has Marsh Madness ended? We aren’t sure yet but all three Montreal quarterbacks saw action in the Alouettes loss in BC. Despite his troubles under centre, Tanner Marsh will start for the Als against the Ticats. On the bright side, Montreal’s defence has been among the league’s best this season.
Edmonton Eskimos (2-9-0)
Change: +1
Edmonton fans have been waiting for this type of complete performance from their football team and boy did they get it. All three phases were clicking Saturday at Commonwealth with the defence shutting down the opposition all game while QB Mike Reilly was delivering the ball with poise. They can start to build momentum if they can repeat their performance in Winnipeg this week.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-9-0)
Change: -1
Neither Justin Goltz or Max Hall could solve a focused Edmonton defence but the good news for the Bombers is they get another shot at the Esks on home soil this Friday. Investors Group Field was the sight of Winnipeg’s last win and to say they will look to feed off a boisterious crowd could be an understatment.
