HAMILTON — Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin announced Monday after practice that Jeremiah Masoli will make his first career start when the team takes on the Calgary Stampeders in Week 4.

Masoli, 25, will replace an injured Zach Collaros, who was officially ruled out of Friday’s action on Sunday afternoon.

The former Oregon Duck has thrown just 17 career CFL passes, completing six of them for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He’s also thrown one interception.

Masoli won the temporary starting job over Dan LeFevour.

Collaros was injured during the second quarter of the Ticats Week 2 loss in Edmonton.

In two games this season, Collaros has completed 23 of his 41 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Austin also said there is no timeline for Collaros’ return. Austin says he is hopeful that Andy Fantuz, who suffered a concussion in the pre-season, will be able to play Friday.

Austin would not say whether the injury was a concussion.

“It’s a combination,” Austin said. “He had a hit to the head and his back’s hurting as well. So, I’m careful not to give exact medical opinions on everything, but he’ll be out this week for sure.”
