John White stays in Green and Gold

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have re-signed free agent running back John White, keeping him in Green and Gold through 2017.

Entering his fourth season, White has spent his entire CFL career with the Eskimos. The former CFL All-Star has amassed 1,112 yards on 192 carries with three touchdowns. He added 268 yards on 24 receptions with three touchdowns.  White sat out the 2015 season after sustaining a ruptured left Achilles tendon during training camp.

He originally signed with Edmonton as a free agent on May 9, 2013.

Prior to entering the league, White set school records at Utah for rushing yards per game (106.7) and career 100-yard games (14). He ranked sixth in school history in career rushing yards with 2,560, fourth all-time in career carries with 534 and tied for fourth in career rushing touchdowns with 23.

White was the only running back in school history with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Prior to Utah, he set numerous records at L.A. Harbor College (2009-10) and was named Central West Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
