Playoff Scenarios: Lions can force home playoff game with win today

Updated: November 4, 2016

TORONTO — Winnipeg knows who they are playing, they just don’t know where.

The Blue Bombers have done all they can do to try and secure a home playoff date.  Following a win Friday night, the will wait and see if the BC Lions can take care of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday to see where they will play next week when the postseason begins.

The remaining scenario is simple: Lions win, they host the Western Semi-Final.  Lions lose and the Bombers will host BC at Investors Group Field.

The Bombers’ win solidified things in the East, however, as the Edmonton Eskimos will play as the crossover team next week in the Eastern Semi-Final in Hamilton.

Here is how everything shakes down given the rest of the final Week of the regular season:

  • BC Win or Tie = BC clinches second in the West Division and hosts the Western Semi-Final.
  • BC Loss = Winnipeg clinches second (via the tie-breaker they hold over BC) in the West Division and hosts the Western Semi-Final versus BC.
