MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes will not have veteran defensive lineman John Bowman in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Toronto Argonauts.
The news confirms a report from RDS’ Didier Ormejuste that Alouettes head coach Khari Jones planned on resting Bowman, along with other veterans on the team, for the remainder of the regular season.

Bowman, 35, is in his 14th season with the Alouettes. In 15 games this season, he’s had 45 tackles, eight sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble.
Over 229 career games in the CFL, Bowman has 451 tackles, 134 sacks, one pick, and 32 forced fumbles.
With the veteran out of the lineup, Javon Rolland-Jones will get the start at defensive end. The 24-year-old made his CFL debut in Week 18 against Winnipeg, finishing with a single tackle. He’ll be backed up by Bo Banner.
Montreal has made some changes on the offensive side of the ball as well. Chris Matthews will be back in the fold and start as the field wideout while running back William Stanback makes his return to the lineup. He’ll likely split snaps with Jeremiah Johnson.
The Als will welcome the Argos to Percival-Molson Memorial Stadium for their matchup to open Week 19. The two teams are set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET.
