Roberson clears waivers; lands on Bears’ non-football injury list

Former Calgary Stampeders CB Tre Roberson was released by the Chicago Bears on Tuesday, after signing with the team on Jan. 29. He has cleared waivers and has been placed on the team’s non-football injury list.

Roberson’s release falls under a stipulation that lets the team release a player if his injury didn’t occur in an NFL game or practice.

The 27-year-old spent the last two years with the Stamps, playing in 32 games, where he had 95 tackles, 10 interceptions, two forced fumbles and two touchdowns. He won a Grey Cup with the Stamps in 2018 and was a CFL All-star in 2019. Roberson signed a two-year deal with the Bears and was expected to compete for the starting cornerback job.

Roberson spent some time with the Minnesota Vikings in 2016 before taking his game to the CFL.
